Mxe Server will not boot

I have a brand new Mxe server. When starting VxWorks, the boot fails when trying to get a tftp load from 192.168.1.8. That IP belongs (according to the docs) to the APC in the server. Tech support suggested I run the upgrade install...

My question is - if VxWorks has not booted yet, how can it look to the CD drive to run the upgrade? It should boot regardless of the current version on the server.

I will not have a CD drive in my hands until Monday, but if this is an APC problem, I need to get a replacement pretty quick.

first of all the cd runs automatically via the usb port. you basically boot from the install CD and it will install the MSL on the APC card. kinda like installing MSL on a PC.

you'll obviously need a USB external CDROM device to do this.

before you do try this though, Try and license the server on ip 192.168.1.5 with the software installer tool.

have you tried changing any IP addresses?
Like I said, try the licensing first if that fails then do a reinstall..

good luck

O and I forgot to mention to plug your rs232 cable into the printer port with settings as per documentation. it's not the standard for connecting to the maintenance port
by connecting to the printer port you see the output on you screen of what the cd install is doing
