ESU has 2 USB port:
one to connect keyboard and mouse with a spliter and one to connect the dongle delivered on USB stick.
Our inhouse voice mail system is built with an ESU with IP connectivity.
If you want to have a traditional server to support analog or CCS ports, it is up to you, but for samll configuration, ESU is cheaper.
Can you give a short explanation for this? How can a ESU know, in which kind of lim it is inserted? It only needs power from backplane. Is the powersystem in the backplane changed?
if you install the ESU in a legacy lim (old hardware like stackable /20, /50 ,/90, etc) WITHOUT fan, you NEED to set the speed at 600Mhz due to the produced HEAT. the trick E/// uses to set the speed is nothing more than Intel SpeedStep (found on intel based laptops). this means that a core duo 1,4GH (=ESU cpu) with 100Mhz FSB has a multiplier of 14. with speedstep the multiplier can be lowered from 14 down to 6.

Never underestimate tha powah of tha google!
As fouesnant has hinted, if you are installing in an old magazine you must drop the speed to 600MHz because of cooling. This will drop the ESU below the minimum spec for MX-One Messaging which is "1.0 GHz Intel® Pentium III™ or equivalent CPU
