We have a Meridian Opt 11c with CallPilot [no symposium] using M3904 handsets.

Last week, I started getting phone calls that the Message Waiting Indicator light has remained on even though there are no new messgages. This is happens on about 1/4 of our phones. CallPilot settings are all correct.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Have a lot of sets? I would check each box for secondary and so on MWI dns, as each number can light up several other ones. Also check SDN scenerios.

There are about 250 phones, as stated before all CallPilot Settings are correct.

There are no revert DN's on the phone that this is happening to and the MWI only shows the DN for the phone.

It just starte happening, these phones have never had the issue in the year since the upgrade and the 6 years prior that this phone system has been in place.

I would do an advance search in callpilot for that DN you know and see if it has multiple MWI or not. Then go from there by upgrading the firware on the 39XX.

Agree w/ 9201 the set it is happening to is not the one lighting up the set.

It isn't just one DN, It is over 60 out of 250
again, they do not have multiple MWI.

bearaness..how many extension numbers are each phone?
if you have two numbers on the phone look in callpilot
and see how many numbers you have on each subscriber
mailbox if you have two and a message was left on
that extension then you go in on the key zero to check
your messages and the message was left on key 1 extension
callpilot will say you have no messages because the message
was not left on the extension on key zero.you have a primary
and secondary extension look to see how you have callpilot
programmed.

no problems only solutions

there is only one DN with one mailbox on each phone that is experiencing the issue - not multiple DNs with multiple MWI
I thought that was explained in the proper Call Pilot config with notating that there are not multiple DN's with MWI pointing to mailboxes.

These are not new phones, they have been programmed for YEARS. This issue just started happening last week.

How about if mermail was still somehow hooked up or somehow got reactivated and messages are in that voicemail system lighting the phones. Just a thought.

I did a quick search of Nortels website and got some hits on your problem. We may be able to narrow this down and help you. I hear your frustration. What are the software releases of the Call Pilot and the Option 11?

Oh one more question. Is this happening exclusively on M3904 phones and do you have other phone types working on this switch? If you have other phone types (Example M2616 etc) that this problem is NOT manifesting on that info may be helpful. More clues help to point to the cause and resolution.

try a session trace on a particular set and see if anything looks funny!

I remember that Meridian Mail had Session Trace. Does Call Pilot have something similar?

Why not post your question in the Call Pilot forum #1553?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

OK that you to all for your input.
the MWI service failed in CallPilot, it took few reboots -but it is working now.

We are checking for patches to see why it ended up failing.

another thing that can cause that is your lamp audit has stopped.. that is controlled by ld 77.. if you have access to that, stop and restart your lamp audit

that was a big problem when rls 3 was new, a couple of cls marks on sets dealing with drng caused the lamp audut to hang.. and lamp audit is off by default starting with rls 3
