We had an electrical power failure two days ago that has stopped the MWI from functioning for six of our 300 Modular Messaging users. "Clear amw all xxxx" didn't fix the problem and all the applicable services are running on our MAS. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Joe,

Thanks for the reply. No, it shows blank for Message Waiting.

I know you do not want to hear this but worked last week for a similar issue, recover messages, delete mailbox and rebuild and retest, should resolve the issue

Hey Joe, can you please define "delete mailbox"? We have an Exchange backend and our Network Admin (who's away for 2 weeks) creates mailboxes in Active Directory. What would I need to do in AD to delete a mm mailbox? Is it as easy as deactivating from the Modular Messaging tab?

Really!!!! I think we should wait the 2 weeks for your regular admin to get back, I am concerned that you do not know what delete a mailbox means so all bets are off

ok one more crack at this; just talked to a modular messaging gura and he says to do the following; from the MAS; go into services/modular messaging message lite server/ stop and then restart it. Good Luck to you

If a power failure knocked out your MAS, you might have front end database corruption. Basically, an SQL or Access DB (sql in 5.2 IIRC) that keeps track of the back end (Exchange in your case) and the front-end on the MAS as to what it should be doing for subscribers. I've repaired it for things like "you have 9999999 new messages" or lamps goofing up. There's also an MWI database in the MAS. Google around on how to rebuild/resync them. Typically, your 1st MAS in a cluster is the one doing MWI. You're usually stop/starting services on it, maybe a registry tweak or 2, and there are some built in tools in a "tools" folder on the MAS to do that - though I've always preferred doing the registry tweaks myself. Some google-fu on MM MWI database and FEDB resync on MM5.2 if you're feeling gutsy - or, if you've got Avaya support, a ticket and maintenance window should help sort it out.

I was very lucky. Rebooting the MAS fixed the problems. Thanks for everyone's help. This is an awesome forum.
