Does anyone know what analog phones have the message waiting light and works perfectly with an Opt. 81? The only phones that I came across so far is just the M8001. I was curious to know if there any non Nortel analog sets that work with the Message waiting lamp feature. Thanks

I would say all analog phones that have a message lamp would work. I was able to light up led lights from back in the day I got from Radio Shack connected to analog lines that were call forwarded to voicemail.

Messaging waiting lights should be around 90v DC and from what I understand is pretty much a standard across the board.

Thanks for the input. One of my customers here onsite purchased an RCA Visys 2 line business phone that has a message waiting light but does not seem to work with my Nortel when I program his line with LPA and MWA.

Make sure you have a message waiting line card. If you put a butt set in monitor mode on the TN when the MW is active you can hear the interrupted voltage. Aastra makes some nice phones for your application.

Most likely the RCA phone doesn't support voltage message waiting. Most "modern" analog phones use CLASS signaling or FSK to turn on the message light. You won't be able to use that unless you have at least one NT5D60 CMOD card in the system.

The only problem I've had with the Message waiting light not working was due to the wires being crossed. Swapping them over at the TJF or socket end fixed it.

It only seemed to apply to certain Hotel type phones.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I've had trouble with Avaya/AT&T "modern" (electronic network) 2500 telephones. They light up as they are supposed to, but are very dim for some reason. Other older 2500 sets (with a real ringer and G-style handset) seem to work fine.
