I have MCD 5.0 ,I have created a HotDesk user as a MultiDeviceUser.
I have created a MultiDevice User group for this user and they can log in and make , recieve calls.(good)
I then added a EHDU as a MultiDevice User and also added this to the same Group.(good)

When called internally , both devices ring , the call can be answered on either and when one is busy the other cannot be called or used to make calls.(good)
If the call is answered on the EHDU and I press a handoff key on the Deskphone , the call comes back to the deskphone (good)

If I press this handoff button again , the call does not get pushed back to the group (bad)

If I answer on the EHDU ext and try mid call dialling to handoff , nothing happens(bad).

I was led to believe that this multidevice usergroup would function in a similar manner to personal ring group (but would only consume one license).
Does anyone know whether this is actually the case.

I have a similar personal ring group setup with a different ext for deskphone and EHDU and handoff is working fine in both directions.

The idea was to not penalise someone that had multiple phones and would only use one at any given time and not use the features to move calls around. I think!

I'm wondering if what you are seeing is not design intent cause if it worked like you tried it, it would be too similar to PRG, thus everyone buying a MUG license instead of license per device???

I think the issues you are having are indeed design intent
A multiuser can only ever be in one place at a time.
If you require the flexibility that you are seeking then you will need both hotdesk and EDHU licences in a PRG

Its strange , I normally test mid call by dialling 5 ( handoff) . That appears to be the only code that does not work?

Transfer etc work fine from EHDU .

Even stranger is that the handoff works from the Desktop phone
eg incoming call to Multidevice group pilot (8055)
call rings on deskphone 8055 , eHDU 4055 and 2nd EHDU 5055

If call is answered on EHDU ,pressing 5 on EHDU does not push call back to group.
Pressing Handoff key on Deskphone does pull call back to deskphone
Pressing Handoff key again on Deskphone does not push call to group.

There is an issue with Handoff Push in MCD 5.0 with the Multi-device User Group. It is resolved in MCD 5.0 Sp1.
Handoff Pull is OK.

@Billz66, If your prime on the Multi Device Group is a Hotdesk user then your DSS/BLF is not working correctly. That is also fixed in the next SP release.
