I installed a SAMSUNG 913V-Black 19" 12ms LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 600:1 0.294mm Pixel Pitch on to my computer the other day and now i do not have any sound. I looked in the sound display and everything is whitewash. I looked in the device manager and the multimedia video controller had a question mark by it. I had tried to update the driver and rebooting but it will not find the correct driver for it..Any Suggestions

Do you have onboard sound or video? Need moer info on the computer you are connecting to.

It has an onboard sound and video... what type info? its an off brand CPU Aspect w/1.7 Mhz P4

Sound is notorious for not wanting to share irqs. Would the installation of the new monitor involve any files, drivers, etc to be added to your system? If so then they could conflict with your sound. Sound likes to have certain irq channels and doesnt like to share much either.

You may be able to change irq settings around a bit to see if that helps, otherwise you may have to uninstall sound and re-install it.
If there were drivers or some program with your monitor, you might also uninstall that and see if your sound is then ok again. Then try re-installing again.
Also check website of the mfgr of your monitor, there may be a FAQ section, etc, some other advice or info you may find helpful. Also check manual it came with.

Good advice + great people = tek-tips
