Hi,
I have user who is using IP 2002 Phone. An SCR dn is configured. All he want is that, put the ringer is mute mode when he is busy. So when someone call him, he do not want to disturb with phone sound. I suggest him to forward call to voice mail directly but it does not fulfill his desire. Because when he see the display of the phone and if he notice someone is calling, he can decide to answer or not.

I do not know, If I was clear. Let me know if you need more information .
Thank

Soory late answer I was outside for some time.. If I understand you want me to change key 00 to scn but in this case, the phone will never ring again.

Not sure what I was thinking earlier why not just add a MSB (Make Set Busy Key). He can press this on and off as he wishes. Calls will folllow the busy treatment/hunt.

Unfortunately the MSB key won't give him the ability to answer the call which is what he is looking for. He wants the visual indication just no sound.

So there is not any possibility for that.... As same time, I was searching in Google. What is Do not Disturb option (DND)

Do Not Disturb is for an Attendant/Operator with a console to place a Do Not Disturb group of DN's in this state. The DND group can be assigned an announcment to say to call back at a certain time. Like say DND group 1 has Patient phones for the 1st floor and these patients will not be allowed to recieve calls from 9PM to 8AM. The operator would place this group in DNS from the console and remove it at 8am.

change the phone as an SCN as suggested and put an external alerter (with a manual ringer on/off) that is an analog line (with the same DN). so that way the phone never rings, and he can choose to turn on the external ringer on or off.

@Triton101 Sorry I do not understand your idea... how to put an external alerter and what it does.
Thank's

Depending on the release you could co what they call Call Deflection. The phone will ring but if he doesn't want to answer it he can hit the call deflect key and it will redirect the call to voice mail. Or you could tell him it is working as designed, because it is.

Looks like Call Deflect for IP phones was introduced in release 7.0

We are using 7.0.... so how can I configure the call deflect on that phone...

Look in the feature guide under Call Deflect for IP phones. It explains it all

Gene's suggestion is a great one for pre-emptive muting. The user will get one short buzz, but that's it. I'd also suggest to turn the buzzer volume down to the lowest.

My trick for sending unwanted calls to voice mail is a two button process, but only works if the user has two lines on the phone. Press the line that's NOT ringing, then Goodbye. It will shut up the first line, but it will still flash there through its ring cycle before going on its way.

Avaya/Lucent/AT&T had a badass feature back in the day - I'm sure they still do - called SEND CALLS. We configured all users of digital phones with a SEND button. One button stops the ringing and immediately sends the call on it's way. Don't know why Nortel never figured that would be a desirable feature.

I can't find Call Deflect for IP phones in the NTP's. Any idea on which NTP it is in?

The Call Deflect for IP phones came out in 7.0. You can find all the information for it in the 7.0 Feature Guides under the letter D.

FYI: tested this and it works great, and simply, for IP phones, at least an 1140E on 7.5. Program a key as DFLC and it works. Phone rings, press the button, call goes away. Why this advanced technology can't be applied to digital sets, I don't know, especially since it's been done on other systems for many years.
