Mute paging at extension when in use

When we use the internal paging feature, it squawks at the person even if they are on the phone. Is it possible to have the page no go through to an extension in use? Like an auto-DND when on the phone?

See if your version allows dnd on busy.

Are you sure a page comes thru when phone in use. I have never seen this. When in use the phone will not get Voice calls or pages only a muted 2nd ring.
I know the BCM S/W can be programed to put a call on hold automaticly when a page comes thru. But that is not the default.

Yes. It was quite loud and disruptive when the person at the front desk was testing the Page-all-phones feature.

[shrug] I wish I knew enough about the system to tell you software version. There is no speaker in the room. Only the extensions.

Is this atleast a Nortel Norstar system.

Ha ha, yes. Can't blame you for asking. I am pretty sure of that. They are T7208 phones, if that helps anyone. NT7B53FA-93 is the main unit. We acquired the system used. It also came with a call pilot, but it's not being used because they prefer the telco VM.

Than there is something wrong with the S/W when a phone is in use it nothing can barge in. Unless you give a phone prioity call, but still not on a page.
Are you using feature 611.

I believe the Feature we were testing was 6-1-0 (for all phones)

Is it possible there are multiple phones in the room and they're hearing the page on a nearby phone?

It's possible, but... man, you all are too fast... faster then I can test. I'll be on-site next week to try these suggestions out.

any phone you can go into programming and chg it so a page will be muted it defaults as page y just chg it to page n or paging it will say jus chg it and that set will no longer recieve pages.

I agree, does not sound right.
But if the software is corrupted go with Norstarboys option.

You can also turn background music on, turn volume right down the turn background music off.
