Hi All

Is it possible to have music on hold enabled but to have silence when transferring calls? The reason for this is that we don't want to have this abrupt garbled speech/music whenever a call is trnasfered. It sounds pretty bad when someone calls up and when the system connects them to their desired extension...there is always an incoherent blip of speech or music when it hook flashes.

TIA

Yes, if you have a music source(radio, CD player) allready hooked to the system. Just shut it off. Thae bad thing with silence is that customers think that they where disconnected and call back. You can go into prograning, under system programing> feature settings> on hold and change to silence.

From install manual:
On hold allows you to choose what a caller hears on an external line when the line has been put on hold. Press CHANGE to select the setting: Tones, Music, or Silence.
¥ Tones provides a periodic tone.
¥ Music provides any signal from a source such as a radio connected to the ICS.
¥ Silence provides no audio feedback.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for the reply but actually...we want to leave the music on but only play it during on-hold and not while transferring.

We play adds during the hold period and need these running. However, when we transfer calls...the add messages play during transfer as well and of course only emit a little blip of sound.

I was hoping there was a way to have silence only when transfering and not when using the hold button to hold a call.

I'm guessing I'm out of luck...?

when you transfer a call the system is actually puts that caller on hold, sorry

pikk,
If you have only a few CO lines you could use an external Music on Hold device. Then you could have beeps or silence on your internal holds. These devices work but are usually only good for single line devices.

Thanks for your help. Looks like we're going to leave it as is. I didn't think it was possible simply because the call does get put on hold on transfer. As for using external lines...not an option. We have 21 CO lines and 12 are used in a hunt group from Bell.

Thnx Again
