Hello everyone i have a Norstar 8x24 system with dr2 i believe its an older system and i have tried everything and have not ever gotten the music on hold to work. Ive changed call handling to music everything. i know that its the last pair Violet Slate or something like that but i have a pre wired block and ive even tried changing that in case of error.. all to no avail what could be going on.

heres some more info i did system version.

Sp: 30ebf03

RTP: 30gbg03

?? doesn't mean anything to mean but i hope it helps lol

It is the last pair of the station amphenol (V-SL). If you're sure music is input to the correct pair, and you have music selected in programming, then I'd say the music circuits are burned out on the 824. Can you hear music by selecting F86? You'll have to turn on background music in programming to be able to do this.

Yes i have Music enabled on programming and have put my self on hold from my cellular phone.. nothing.. i have used background music nothing. now how would the circuits be burnt out could an employee have turned the cd player hooked up to it to loud and over loaded it or something like that?

If a signal that is too amplified is connected it can very easily overload the music circuits. I have seen this many times on Norstar control units. You'll either need to send the 824 off for repair or replace it.

Before you scrap the system, you might want to put a butt set on the pair feeding to the system. I've often seen techs wire up the incorrect type of connector to the music source (1/8 mini stereo instead of mono, or visa versa) and get intermittent output.

If there's nothing coming into the ksu, you won't get anything out.

Check the polarity of the music source.

I don't know about the older 8x24, but for a FACT the CICS is polarity sensitive.
You will not get a thing if it's backwards.
