Hello i have a Merlin legend I am trying to hook up music on hold,I have read the other posts and understand the programming part,I have a 408GS/LS-MLX card. It has 8 mlx digital lines used,it has four GS/LS 2 are in use.
Question how do you find out the port numbers for the LS/GS ports,,they are numbered or tagged 01-02-03-04, I have done data recovery but these do not seem to come up where i can find them, could someone please tell me how to find these.
another question---do I have to use GS/LS ports or can any port be used, like ones I already have programmed for phones as on a 016 card,,,Thank you for any help,it will be much and greatly appreciated..Firestorm1955

You must use a Loop Start/Ground Start trunk port.

Your lines start at 801 with the lowest trunk port on the first card that has trunk ports. Sounds like you only have a 408-GS/LS/MLX card, so line 804 will be the top-most jack of the group of 4 at the top of the card. There is one oddball jack situated above the trunk ports, that is the Power Failure Transfer port.

Thank you TouchToneTommy we have other cards such as straight 408 digital and analog and ds1 cards but this is the first card in the system, Thank you very much for the info, you described my first card correctly and I was wondering what that top oddball jack was for,,I am sure I will be successful this week with completing music on hold for our system...Firestorm1955

And to further your education on the Legend/Magix, you can download all the documentation for free from support.avaya.com

All the info on MOH is covered in them!

Happy reading...

The top, oddball jack on the 408 module - is aPower Failure/Transfer Port. You can plug a single-line telephone in that port - and ONLY during a power failure - that port will connect Line 801 (and/or whatever line number is in the bottom line port) to that telephone - using Telco power. When the power failure ends - the bypass port will be deactivated automatically.
