Is there an online repository of Music on Hold files for the IPO?
It would be handy to have ready made files, you could just download.

Not that I know of, the reason is down to copyright and royalty payments in certain regions/countries, even when you have royalty free music you still need to have the original CD as your right to play the music and if you want to play copyrighted music you also need some form of broadcasting licence (PRS in the UK):)

I know its a copyright headache, but I thought there might be something out there. Even if its a paid service.
Most services in life are there, because we're too lazy to do it ourselfs.
Take me for example right now, to get the correct WAV file, I have to:
1) Find copyright free music. Let say for the sake of argument, I have such a file in MP3 format.
2) Find MP3 -> WAV software
3) Download & Install it
4) Edit the MP3 or WAV to make sure its got the correct properties for the IPO.

I'd probably pay for a ready made WAV, which I can just download

are you looking to offer a choice to the customer before/during installation or something?

I usually leave the beep beep in. if they want something more specific, set it up for an external source and let them sort the CD's/ MP3's out.

Never argue with an idiot. bystanders won't be able to tell the difference.

Yes, I want to give them a choice.

But also, between you and me (and the millions reading this) it would be nice to have a place to download a test WAV, when you don't have one to hand :)

Unfortunately the external source is not always possible, for various reasons.

1) All classical music is royalty free
2) 3) see 2 above
4) takes about 60 seconds, The file properties should be: PCM, 8kHz 16-bit, mono, maximum length 30 seconds (90 seconds on the IP500)

Even the sites which you pay for tracks don't supply in the correct format so you will have to do option 4 above anyway.

yeah i appreciate that the external source is always a suitable option.

i usually keep the holdmusic.wav on my desktop incase for whatever reason its not in the managers directory and i need it.

Looks good mate, but your taste in music is as bad as mine! :)

ha ha, it's neutral, if it were up to me I'd have pearl jam, system of a down, alice in chains and ac dc!

off topic but i saw system of a down live at the EMA's in 2005. them and then the pussycats dolls.......... weird lineup.

It was the MTV European Music awards, so the lineup was a mixed bag. Coldplay, SOAD, Pussycat Dolls, Shakira, Akon, Foo Fighters, green day, madonna, Robbie williams.
