I have an ACS R3 and can't get music on hold to work. I attached a cable to the unit and to a radio. no music on hold. i activated the feature, i think 607, if i remember correctly. what should i check next. the cable is good.

Try cutting the plastic off the end of the mini RCA plug going into the Partner system to expose the entire metal shield. The plastic often prevents you from inserting the plug completely into the MOH recepticle of the module.

hmm, so i should trim the plastic on the RCA connector on the cable, not the jack on the ACS? i will check this, but would this apply to any partner or just an ACS?

1- yes, from the cable, not the module.
2- Not sure about the other versions, but I believe it only applies to the ACS (in fact I had to do this again yesterday)

Yes this applies just to the ACS. Make sure when you trim the cable that you dont take off more than you need. If the outer fastning portion of the cable is removed or loosened you will not get a secure connection. This is because the outside portion of the cable supples the grounding. Try only shaving off 1/8" at most and that should do it.
Make sure your music source is also plugged into the AC surge suppressor the partner is plugged into.

Avaya must not have been able to afford a big enough drill bit :)

Or... you could buy a cable I know works. At Radio Shack part #42-2387A. The cord should have three contact points on both ends-the round head and two black lines.
