Help!
I have an IP403 in London and a Comdial system in the States.
There is a managed T1/E1 IP link between the two sites.

The solution was to have the Multitech device (which i know nothing about)connected in the States to the Comdial system and a Voice compression module fitted to the IP403 in London.

Will this work?
Must i have the MultiTech in London as well?

I'm testing these things in my lab as we speak, but I'm 99% sure you will have to have one at each site.

I can verify that you will NOT need one at each end (but if you don't need VCM for any other reason in London then it will be cheaper *grin*).

I have connected 403 w/VCM to Multitech MultiVoIP and it works great. You just need a 3rd party IP endpoints licence.

Any Programme tips for an install then Morrack.

Hardware:
1 x VCM5
1 x 3rd party IP endpoint

Yes, configure and test with POTS phones, then connect it to the comdial. Been years since I touched of them so I can't give you any advice on it...

Let me know if you have any trouble getting the IPO to talk to the MultiVoIP. You're best to get it working in your lab first to eliminate network/routing/firewall issues.

Hey Morrack! Are you sure that you need an IP Endpoint license? I tested a Merlin Magix to a MultiTech 2-Port connecting to a SOE without any trouble but maybe I am missing something. I believe that if you register the Multitech (which actually caused problems for me) then it would require a license. Am I mistaken about this? I really would like to know as I would hate to tell someone that you could when you can't. The SOE that I have has SoftConsole RFA, VM Pro RFA, PhoneMGR Pro RFA. These are the only licenses that I have and the connections work fine. Let me know!!

It depends how you set it up. If you create a user and register the non-Avaya device with the IPO you need a 3th party endpoint license. If you use an IP trunk between the device and the IPO you don't need any license.

The multivoip can be configured back-to-back includinf the -AV model. Only faxing can be tricky and should be tested properly. I never tested an Multivoip registered with an IPO for faxing but I suppose this wouldn't work.

If you have the ability to do an H.323 trunk from the Comdial, why not just setup an H.323 trunk and be done? I know it can be done with an IPO and S8500 fairly easily.

Just food for thought. :)
