Is it possible to have multiple instances of InDesign running? Whenever I try I open two files of InDesign it always gets appended to the current InDesign application running.

Thanks!

Why would you want two instances of the program instead of opening two or more documents in one instance of the program?

If switching (such as ALT-TAB) is the reason, you can configure a hot key within InDesign to jump between open documents.

Because I have a dual monitor display and I want to be able to quickly navigate another InDesign Doc that contains text frames that I can easily cut and paste into the my main InDesign document instead of the clunky way of switching the view from the menu bar.

I agree that it would be nice.

You could expand the ID window to span your monitors, and then resize the individual document windows (they don't have to fill the ID window) so that they're side-by-side. Clunky, but not as clunky as using the menu.

Cut and paste implies that you will cut from one window, move your mouse over across monitors to the other document window on the other screen, click the window to make it active, and then paste. This seems like too much effort. I see repetitive stress issues on your wrist.

Simply set a hotkey to jump between documents. You are never confined to a clunky View menu.

Thank you Genimuse for actually trying to answer my question. :)
