Hi guys,

I need to connect 4 remote offices to a central office. All offices have a static IP. The central office has a PIX 506e and the remotes have 501's. Each remote office has between 3 and 8 users. First, is this setup practical or should I upgrade all the remote PIX's to 506e's and the central PIX to a 515e ? This company only need to access Word and Excel docs held at the central office.
Secondly, can I create a single VPN on the central PIX that lets them all connect (i.e 1 ACL specifying the 4 remote IP's) or do I need to create separate VPN's ? I intended to use PDM to create 4 separate site to site VPN's. Is this the best way or can I manage it more efficiently ? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Regards Jacob.

The 501's should be fine.

On the central site, you'll create 4 vpn policies, one for each peer. As long as the remote sites need only to access the central one, that's all you need.

If the remote sites need to access one another, then you'll need to set up VPNs between them in a mesh.

Jacob,

You must create 4 tunnel policies and 4 tunnels, it is best to create them with PDM wizard.

I have had something simular and placed documents on Microsoft 2003 server (Hosted by ISP), and let people use webdav to access documents. It's easier implementing, and you can use Novell's Netdrive to connect.
User have a z: drive (or wathever letter they wish) where documents are, and no need to create VPN client to access documents while on the road.

Sorry for my poorly English.

Kind regards,

Paul
