I have a DLINK DI-713p router in which I can connect to my work's VPN using Cisco's Client 3.5. I did not have to open any ports.

I'm running XP Home Edition. I would like to connect to another company's VPN using MS VPN client. I opened ports 1723, 500 & 47 on the router. When I try to connect I receive error 721 - remote computer did not respond.

I have another networked XP Home edition which uses a wireless NIC and does not have the Cisco Client software loaded. When I attempt to connect to the MS VPN I receive the same error 721.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi ...

I have tried to get this box working with several VPN implemetations. If you upgrade with the latest firmware (260b6a) you should be able to connect using ( Windows VPN ) PPTP. If you want to use IPSEC VPN ( ie. Cisco ) the only way is to setup a NAT/DMZ connection. The problem with this solution is that you can only make one PC with a static IP work through the box. Otherwise I think you could change the Dlink 713P to Dlink 714p which as I understand supports both PPTP / LTP / IPSEC VPN when you enable it in the menu. Or wait for another firmware upgrade.....

Best Regards
