We have a company email address that every employee should be able to see, as well as their own mailbox.

We are running Exchange 03 on SBS 03. However, when we try to add a new mailbox in Outlook 2003, It says we are only able to access one mailbox per user

Is there anyway we can get around this? So that each user can see the inbox of our company email?

Probably simple, but im new to Exchange

Cheers

Create a new account for the new mailbox, then disable the account, and give everyone access permissions on the shared mailbox.

The best way for you to do this is to avoid using up a CAL. Create a public folder and assign it the email address that you want the mail to go to. Move any existing mail to this folder. Give all users access to the public folder and you are done.

You might want to show your users how to add a public folder to their Favorites list by Right Clicking the folder and Choosing Add to Favorites.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark is right, that is a far more flexible solution!

That is also correct zbnet, but nitrokid mentioned twice his users must be able to SEE the mail, there is not mention of sending. That is why, in this case, I support the PF option.

I support the PF option for many reasons, but have found that using OWA can be an excellent alternative to configuring Outlook to open multiple mailboxes. Once users have permission to the mailbox, use:

The single benefit is that when replying, the mail says it's "from" -in this case "publicusername", as opposed to saying "privateusername sent on behalf of publicusername". Some people object to having their name out there.

It's pretty easy to create a desktop shortcut, or it can be rolled out into their IE via GPO. Besides, some users have an easier time handling the difference between the two accounts when they're in different windows. (sigh)

My mistake. After reading zbnet's excellent link, I realize there's a way to Send As, within Outlook.

Thanks ZB!

Lots of activity here from everyone EXCEPT nitrokid!

Nitrokid, has any of the above helped you?

I hope you find this post helpful.
