I have domino server on one machine where I registered 3 persons A, B and C. Now on another machine I have installed Notes with A as the default client. So every time I start Notes from that machine it asks me to enter the password of A. Suppose user B wants to login in the same machine how can he do it ? I mean how can I get the dialogue box to enter the password of B so that B can check his mail.

Ketan.

If you know you're going to have multiple users on a machine when you install it, make a copy of the notes\data directory before you do the user configuration. Lets assume you call this notes\data2.

Create a shortcut for that second user that launches c:\notes\notes.exe =c:\notes\data2\notes.ini

This will force the application to use the data2 configuration.

I've done more R5 deployments than I care to think about.

We set the users up on their home directories rather than the local hard drive. The names.nsf, id file, and the notes.ini file all reside on the home directory. Of course, this will only work if these users are required to use their own network sign-on to log into the LAN.

When we have to do this, we set them up with individual location documents for each user. Then when a different user logs on, he cancels past the password prompt and then selects his/her own location document and logs on. We have done this on both Windows98 and NT environments and it has worked fine.

Be cautioned about using the user's home drive on a network share. First, a network burp could corrupt any of the critical files like an ID for names.nsf. Second, Lotus doesn't support this configuration.
