Multiple read receipts from old email

We currently have an issue with one user sending multiple read receipts to one person for the same email message on a daily basis.

They are both using Outlook 2000. One thing I have noticed is that the sender of the receipt has 'always send read receipt' selected in his tracking options. It's possible that modifying that setting will solve the initial issue, but it still should not be sending duplicate read receipts.

The original email message that the read receipt was for is from November 2006, it is now late January 2007.

I have read many post from people with similar issues but have yet to find a solution to this problem.
 
We have just found the cause of something similar.

From the sender (of the read reciepts) PC, check if there is a PST file that gets connected to each time Outlook is opened. In our case, every time Outlook was opened on the senders PC and then the PST file opened, this would cause the reciepient to be sent about 30 read reciepts from last year.

Try to remove the PST file from the senders Outlook profile and then test on the recipients PC again to see if still recieving the read reciepts. If not then it sounds like stuck read reciepts in the PST file and you may be able to make use of this utility:



Let me know how you get on, I've seen a lot of posts for this issue but very little to fix it.
