I'm running A CS1000M Succession 4.5 and I'm about to cutover an older Release 23 switch to this one. On that switch I have a group of 3 CAS T1 as IAO trunks and one CAS T1 as outgoing only. What I'm struggling with is since we didn't have DCH in our old switch, how do I assign multiple PRI to only 1 DCH? I understand it's good to have a backup DCH and I'll have that as well but I'm not even sure of what to call this situation to try and look it up. I've got one running right now as a test and it's just 1 PRI 1 DCH but as I try to program up the other circuits I get an error that there is no DCH assigned when I get to RTMB. For instance the current 23 channels are on Route 14 so they are 14 1 --> 14 23. I'd like to start the next circuit as 14 24 or something like that to add them to the same route, but if that's not the proper way to do this I guess I need some guidance.

You can do this. it's not that hard.

in your dhcannel settings you will see:

PRI

That is the secton where you assign the PRI.

After you get to DCHL and enter in your Loop number you get the PRI prompt. Put in your loop numbers followed by thier order number..

DCHL 11
PRI 12 1
PRI 13 2
PRI <CR> ENTER when done...

Just don't forget to build them as 24 channel circuits.

This is call NFAS.

Hope this helps.

ohhh, so you assign pri's to a dch instead of assigning a dch to pri.. that makes a lot more sense now. Thanks alot! Will talk to the telco. It's going to be fun because I'm going to have to get CAS trunks that are in production switched over (with minimal downtime) to another type of circuit so it's going to take some coordination, and hopefully I have everything programmed properly for the cutover!
