I have a user who travels between our Atlanta & NY offices frequently. He has an extension in each place along w/voicemail. He does not want 2 voicemail boxes even though he is forwarding his calls. He also wants a light in both places for that one box. I didn't think this could be done, but maybe something has changed?

Yes this can be done. With the voicemail setup on once phone go into cha sta xxxx, on page one there is an option Message Lamp Ext put the extension from the number with the VM in that field. This will cause the lamp to light when a message arrives.

The biggest caveat is that the phone will not ring when the first number is ringing.

You may want to consider a pick-up group between these two phones.

We need more info here. Is this a S8XX0 with an LSP? Or are we talking about 2 seperate switches? Also, what voice mail are you using?

learn2shoot-how is that if these extensions are in different switches? No LSP, an 8710 in ATL with Intuity Audix and an 8500 in NY with Audix LX.

I was getting ahead of myself... sorry I was assuming these were on the same switch.

The only option I see is to hang an IP phone off the ALT PBX but put it in NY. Use a brdge appr. This way you have one phone number, connected to one switch with one voice mail.
