My internet connection has proven so unreliable in a remote building I need to go back to dial up as primary. I installed a second modem and I would like to use aloha for both. Years ago we had two modems working, if one terminal had just accepted a credit card EDC would dial out, and then if a second terminal immediately needed another auth the second modem would take that one and dial out simultaneously.

I was able to setup both modems, and I can select only one to work at a time under the processor settings. Both are modems work fine, tried both. But I forget to have them both online at the same time as we did years ago. Anyone know?

Step i is to add modem to EDC,
Turn POS off
choose configure and add modem. be sure to know what com port its on. If us modem check modem settings for virtual port.

Step 2 add modem to procesor.
Configure procesor, look for dialing tab. put in toll free numbers and on modem you will see the modem you just added.

Newer models of modems will not be listed and you may have a tough time finding just the right modem initialization settings AT&F is a good starting string but there are many others depending on model.

You may also look into getting sonicwall with failover 3G or 4g hotspot. When wired internet goes down, broadband kicks in automatic.

Thanks AlohaRoss for the reply.

I had done all that, but it still won't automatically use the second modem on demand.

If it won failover there is something not set right. I would still suggest a broadband router as backup. Clear was a great choice until they were purchased by Sprint. Now not sure what is best.
