Hello!

I have a server. On the server are 5 lpars. Is there some way to assign multiple lpars to this server-shape?

Thanks!

Csaba

Not knowing the full context of where you are getting this shape from, I'll give you the generic answer. Shapes can have custom properties and it is possible to have a custom property that contains a string of values (multiple LPARS)

OK!

Now I can assign more than one "system name" to one shape (custom properties->system name->type:Variable List), but if I generate a report, I can see only one system name in the xls not the all. I'd like to see them all. Could you tell me what to do with this?

Thank you for your help!!

Variable list allows you to have one entry out of a list. As a variable list, the user can add entries that ar enot in the list.

You should be treating the custom property as a string and enter values such as "lpar1" or "lpar1, lpar 3". If you enter the values in a standard format with standard delimiters, you could split the single column into multiple columns by using Excel's Text to Column command.

Ok, I see

Thank you but this is not the way I'd like to do this. I'll create plus one layer - which is always invisible - with the proper number of shapes. This way I can assign every lpar's name, processor number, and so on to these "fake" shapes. When I create a report I'll get the right form of the excel sheet.

anyway thank you for your help..I guess Microsoft should solve this thing in the next version of the Visio. I'm affraid I'm not the only one who has this problem :).

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do.

If you want to do a report listings items on a single logical partition and each shape can be a member of more than one LPar, then you should consider using a different layer for each LPar.
