Hi, I am just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem, and what steps they took to resolve it. We have a bcm50 at our main office with 5 digital extensions. We also have 4 satellite offices with ip extensions (i2004). The system works fine but we are having trouble communicating between remote sites. From main office to remote site, there is no problem. You can dial the extension as if you are in the same physical location. However, from 3 of the 4 remotes, when you dial another remote site, although the call connects, once you pick up, you just have silence. The 4th site works fine and you can call other remote sites without a problem. Anybody know how to resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Signaling packets (i.e. when you make the call) are between the IP Phones and the BCM. Voice packets (i.e. after the call is answered) go directly between the two IP Phones. Therefore your data network has to be configured so that there is a route between the IP Phone on one satellite office to the IP Phones on each of the other satellite offices. Check the configuration of the tunnels.

Thanks for your reply. So, I guess you have to set up a VPN tunnel from one remote site to another if you want to communicate IP to IP. Right now, we have VPN's set up from the BCM to each IP, but not from IP to IP. Does that sound right? Thanks in advance.

Thanks again. I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

Depending on the software you're using you probably won't need the remote to remote vpn tunnels. At the host site you should allow branch to branch connectivity, which is disabled by default. If your vpn device won't allow this then you'll have to create the extra tunnels.
