We have users at our company who get emails addressed to multiple address. For instance: John Smith gets emails that are sent to Northernsales@company.com and Southernsales@company.com

When sending emails from John Smith's account, can he specify which of the two addresses he wants the email to come from?

Thank you,
Travis

In Notes, you normally send with the name you log on as. If the user needs to send from multiple addresses, he will most likely need multiple IDs and log on as whatever he wants to send as first.

Given that the addresses you give are purely technical in nature, there is another way of doing it. Create a mail-in database for each address, and change the Send button to save the mail and not send.
Then create a scheduled agent (you can decide the frequency) that will go over the Sent mails, and for each mail that has not yet actually been sent, it will rewrite the From and then send the mail.

Of course, you will need someone with design skills to get this done.

Thank you Pascal,

What I ended up doing is copying the current "location" profile and then renaming it and changing the internet email address to the other email address the user requested.

Now the user can receive email routed to either email address and they just change from their normal location, to the other location to send out email from the other address.

Thank you again,
Travis

Looks like I was a bit off target here. Normally, requests concerning which email to send from concern the user ID, not just the box. I assumed that it was the case here too, hence my focusing on the ID part.
But if the name change is not required, then the solution you found is quite enough.
However, you didn't need my input here ;-). Good work.

Hi Travis,
Hi Pascal

I have a similar problem: in one of our company's departement, four users need to have two internet addresses to be able to switch from one to the other.
So I did the same, everything works fine. But:

One of these Users is not able to be reached by sending mails on one internet address.

External: sending mails from external to this user works fine, he gets mails sent to ab@x.de also to ab@y.de

Internal: I know its not the meaning to send internal mails by using the internet address, but anyway it should work. So it works fine with 3 users; doesn't matter how I address them, hierarchical (notesname), internetaddress 1 and internetaddress2.

But this one user is reachable by notesname and internetaddress 1, when sending to the other internetaddress, Mailrouter always says "User not listed in the Domino Directory".

Do you guys have any iputs? Sorry for my bad english, hope you understood anyway what the problem is.

Thank you very much!
Regards,
Sue

Hi Sue,

The only time I received the error "user not listed in domino directory" is when I initially didn't have a second location set up for the additional internet address.

Also; I've noticed that sometimes when I add an internet address, it doesn't work for an hour or so afterwards until the server notices the cahnge.
