Customer wants the 5340 phones to ring another key on the set if the prime extension key is in use...how do I do this on this platform?

thanks, Jim

Define a multicall key on the set with the same extension.

Note: There are some features that do not work when the call is ringing a multicall key such as Call Pickup

Also, there is a COS option in the 260's range for Set not busy with free appearance (262?)

That is pretty straight forward.

I wish Mitel TS had said that, when I asked them about multicall key they said it for other extensions on this phone and then he tried to set up camp on...I get the impression that Mitel TS doesn't get many calls for this platform, for they have been very ambiguous or just dead wrong on the three calls I have made to them on this install.

thanks, Jim

OK, there is another twist to this riddle.

The extensions in question are members of a hunt group and it won't allow me to add their extensions as multicall keys if they are in a ring group...any other ideas how they can keep a direct extension call from going to to VM or receiving a busy but ringing another key on the phone?

Yes

Create a non associated line key on the phone, key system type might be best.
Make sure COS option for Key Lines follow prime as forwarder is enabled (name of option may be slightly different)
Set forwarding for No Answer to Vm
Set forwarding for busy to second line key

For numbering I typically set the extension to something related to the Prime.

If the Prime is 1234, the secondary key might be 1*234 for example.

Thanks, I'll try that

I looked in COS and System options and I found no option remotely close to that. I also built a key line with the suggested numbering (1*232, which was actually one of the numbers [1232] I was working with) and when I call forward busy, it showed that number as invalid. It would allow forwarding to an IP or analog extension, just not that scheme.

Something interesting here as a sidebar...program CF Busy from the form 9 to one of my 5340s, the key is just dead. Program a superkey on the set and program CF Busy from the superkey, it seems to work...this is a strange platform...nothing like the 3300 it seems (except for trunking and ARS)

thanks

Sorry Crowtalks, It's obviously been longer than I thought since I did this so my memory must be failing me.

With respect to the 2nd line key, now that you've tweaked my memory

you will need to configure a phantom bay in form 53?
Populate the Phantom bay with analog cards
Program phantom analog extensions with the numbering scheme #xxxx or *xxxx if you can without conflict.
This will allow direct calls to the secondary key and will still end up in the appropriate vm
Again phantom analog extensions require option for do not forward if free appearance enabled
Create Multicall of phantom analog stations on the phones
Phantom analog will need to be forwarded when busy and no annswer to VM
Forward Prime to secondary on busy and to VM on no answer

That other option for the record was - Display Prime As Forwarder 258, no longer required

Thanks!

Phantoms...that was what I was missing in this system...

I will run with this...

I don't mean to flood you and our virtual co-workers in this forum with questions, but I am breaking new ground with this platform.

if you create a phantom bay, which is always a good idea, and program an analog card against it and then extensions you will get an alarm, you will have to log in as "installer" and
go system-set-alarm_thresh-lines and then set the phantom bay to minor and major to 100%, leave critical alone by entering past it. You will then have to increase your system alarm higher also. You must do this from Installer username.

Thanks Panda I ran across just that scenario and dumped the phantom ...I modify the thresh holds
