My question is about multiple installations of COGNOS on a single box.
Where wanting to have a Production and Development/testing environment and I'm trying to determine the problems of having two installations on a single box that DOES have two IP addresses.
We are using PowerPlay Transformer, Impromptu and web reports.

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Besides the fact that your competing with yourself for system resources, the install path is hardcoded once you have a component installed. Unless you are UNIX, this isn't possible. If you are on UNIX, then remember to change ALL the port numbers to keep these two environments seperate.

THANKS for the quick response flex! I guess I should have mentioned that we are indeed on a UNIX.
Have you worked with this set up before? Do you know of any documentation that would discuss multiple installations on a single unix box?
Besides having two environments for testing and developing reports it's also needed to test the cognos software itself prior to upgrading to newer versions in production.

Again, thanks

I know of MANY client's that have a similar setup. All you need yo remember is that they have to be installed as different users, thus allowing you to install to seperate directories, and that the default port values must be changed.
Unfortunately, no documentation at this time.
