i have 7 inputbox for the seven files i want to upload at one instance. i have it tested over LAN and everything seemed work fine. Having uploaded the php scripts into the public web server, i tested it using the same test files.

The result:
with 7,6,or 5 files - "Cannot file server/The page cannot be displayed".
with 4,3,2,or 1 file - The script works fine.

Observation:
with 4 files, total file size is 0.99MB
with 7 files, total file size is 1.20MB

in php.ini:
upload_max_filesize = 8M
post_max_size = 16M
memory_limit = 20M
max_execution_time = 120
max_input_time = 120

using the top command, the system only got 4MB of free space.

Where could possibly be the source of the error encountered
when uploading more than 4 files or more than 0.99MB?

i badly need your help?

redhat7.3, apache2.0.44, mysql4.11, php4.3.1

i tried adding 128MB of memory but still got the error.
i tried to look for possible directives in httpd.conf but don't know which directive might involve OR, is the httpd.conf has nothing to do with this type of problem?

how about .htaccess? but, where can i find the file? i tried '#find / -name .htaccess -print' but returned none.

or is it with the browser setting?

i dont know, i get stuck with this for quiet a number of days now.

i badly need your expertise...

Zyrag,
have you tried to upload 7 little file?
This could help you to be understand wether the problem is in the total size or in the number of files.
