I have an exchange server I have two domains. I want to have The client use one profile, but be able to respond with what ever domain the client needs. Is this possible? I tried to setup multiple exchange accounts as well but was unable to do so The error stated (Only one exchange account can be used at a time.)

Thanks in advance

You don't need multiple Exchange accounts.

This is easily accomplished through Recipient Policies.

Open Exchange System Manager
Expand 'Recipients'
Select 'Recipient Policies'
In the right pane, right-click 'Default Policy', Select 'Properties'
Select tab 'E-Mail Addresses (Policy)'

Here is where you tell the server what email domain names it is responsible for. The name of your existing domain is already there.

Click 'New'
Select 'SMTP Address'
Click 'OK'

In the address box, type in the domain name you want to add, using the following format:
@abcdomain.com

Click 'OK'

Your additional domain name should now be listed.
Click 'OK'

Right-click 'Default Policy' again, select 'Apply this policy now'

The server is now configured to receive emails under various domain names.
For example...
User1's email address is both
user1@abcdomain.com & user1@xyzdomain.com
using only one exchange account.

The next step is to set individual user preferences (optional)
Open Active Directory Users and Computers
Open up a user account
Select tab 'E-Mail Addresses'
You should see all available email addresses.
From here you can select which is their primary email account. This is the email address that is used for all outgoing mail.

Don't forget to properly configure your MX records in your public DNS.

This method has worked flawlessly for me.
I have 1 Exchange server, 150 users in 9 different subsidiary companies and 14 domain names.

Hey thanks I have that part. How do they respond as example doamin 1 and then domain two using the same accout. I do have the first part working

Thanks
Erick

If you check the user account in AD, the user will receive email as any of the listed addresses; one Exchange account.
The address in bold print is the primary. All outgoing email wil go out as that address.

The one downside is that changing the outgoing address on the fly is not possible.

Hope this helps.

Not possible!

If you want to SEND as one or all those domains, you will need 3 accounts!
Exchange will ONLY mail using the default SMTP address.

It's not only possible, it's works great.

Maybe I need to clarify one point:
You can receive email as multiple domains
You can only send mail as one of those domains

I'll repeat:

If you want to SEND as one or all those domains, you will need 3 accounts!

You really cannot expect people messing with AD to change their default SMTP address, right?

And I'll repeat...it works.
I have it running right now. Has been for about a year.

I have 1 Exchange server, 150 users in 9 different subsidiary companies and 14 domain names.

I can receive email as any of the 14 domain names.
My outgoing mail is configured for the specific company I'm in.

You just don't get it do you?

I NEVER said he or you cannot receive from multiple domains, I do the same thing.

What I AM saying is, you CANNOT send from multiple domains with ONE account!!

The initial question was:
I want to have The client use one profile, but be able to respond with what ever domain the client needs. Is this possible?
The answer is, again, NO ! You need an account per domain you want to SEND from, PERIOD!

What you are repeating over and over is correct, but it is NOT the answer to the question!
