Hi all,
We have a problem trying to add a further domain to our exchange server. We currently receive emails from 3 of our domains into our exchange server and now wish to add a fourth.
We have had the MX records changed to point to our server, which we have tested and proved are correct via messagelabs - who intercept emails and check for spam/virus'. I have also changed the default recipient policy and added in the new domain. If I send an email internally to the newly added email address it is delivered ok. If, on the other hand I send an email to that address form an external source I get a 551 Bad Recipient error.
I have selected 'Applied this policy now' on the default recipient policy. I have done an 'Update Now' on the Recipient Update Service and I have also restarted the whole exchange server, but I still get the same error?

We have about exhausted our avenues on this problem and really need to resolve this, for obvious reasons.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keith

Check the account in ADUC, does the address that you are sending to appear in the email addresses list in the user account properties ?

Hi paulha,
Yep, I've created the email address for the account in ADUC. I even copied and pasted it, just in case my old eye / finger combination is introducing an error somewhere.

Thanks again paulha,I have already followed both of your suggested links - to no avail.

I have just completed a further technical call to Messagelabs, who have said there might me an issue with the forwarding from their towers onto our domain - although the tests they did yesterday showed no problems. I'm hoping a simple change their side will fix our problem, which now looks like the likely culprit.

For now I feel we might be near to a solution, which I will post if it is the case. Therefore, rather than waste anybody's time further it's probably best to hold on with this problem.

Many thanks

Keith
