Multiple costs per task

I have a task in a simple project that requires multiple costs.

For example, the task "Scheduling" has hardware costs and software costs.

Is there any way to record this in the single task, "Scheduling", without creating sub-tasks?

In P2003:

View | Resources
Create a resource named Hardware, change the Type to Material and enter the cost.
Create a resource named Software, change the Type to Material and enter the cost.
View | Gantt
Go to the task and assign those two resources to the task.
