Multiple copies of e-mails received from Exch Server

I have a client who is receiving 2-4 copies of the same e-mail from the server. the client can open an e-mail and read it and the next time they look at their inbox, all the e-mails they have read are shown as unread. What could be wrong here? Virus?

Is there a PIX firewall in place?

do they have leave it on server turn on?
Remote user?
outlook or express?

No they don't leave it on the server. Remote user is not used and they all use Outlook 97 currently, but are going to get Outlook 2002 soon.

Can a PIX firewall cause this problem? If so, what is the solution?

PIX sometimes causes certain messages to loop indefinitely, to resolve that issue issue a command:
no fixup protocol smtp 25

N0ktar, have you run into other problems with PIX firewalls? Since ours was implemented remote users are having problems synchronizing their offline folders.

Any ideas? Let me know if you want the pertinent info & I can start a new thread.
