I have a doorphone & (1)doc and the customer wants it to ring on more than just the call dn ? will the doorphone allow me to assign answer dn's to it ?any suggestions ??
yes,
what you do is make the door phone ring an ext.(eg. 700) with no call forward and no hotline. then give the other ext. and answer DN for 700, but also make sure that none of them have call forward or hotlines. I usually put a bunch of 7100's in different departments with answer DN for the 7100 that is by reception. or have it page and do a dirrected pickup.
Here is a easy inexpensive way buy your self a Viking door Box or any kind with 2-way talk back which come with a 24volts PWR supply.
(1)cross connect the tip/ring from the door to any spare LS/DS line port and program that line to ring only on the EXT'S the customer wants.
(2)There is a ring setting on the door box locate it and set the rings to less than the amount you have for FORWARD DELAY for each EXT that have a mail box with line ringing on it(eg.FWD Delay=4 set the door box to 3rings. Doing this stop the ringing before it goes to V-M.
(4)and last NAME the line you use for the door box (DOOR)the will let Mary and John it' the DOOR calling and not the IRS.
You could also use a different approach rather than the answer DN scenario. As long as the Norstar software supports Hunt Groups, have the door phone ring the Hunt Group DN. Assign all appropriate extensions into the hunt group as either Appr & Ring (key appearance) or ring only. This would also seem to eliminate the Answer DN's interaction with individual extension mboxes as Hunt Group calls do not follow set forwarding.
