Hi

I have an xl spreadsheet that is accessed and updated by many users. The problem is that occasionaly, it will not allow changes to be saved. It will allow the sheet to be saved with a new name and will continue again for a few weeks till the problem occurs again.

Does any one know why this is happenig? and / or how to cure it!

Many thanks

Steve

Sounds like the person who is trying to save info has it open Read Only...???

Is it a "Shared" workbook ?? (in the technical sense rather than the metaphorical) Rgds

Geoff

The users all have full permissions, and can normally save their changes.
The workbook was created as a single user not shared

Steve

If it's single user and 2 people are in it at the same time - only the person who opened it 1st has permissions to save over the current file - other users must save changes under a different name

To make changes saveable by any user at any time, regardless of how many people have it open at the same time, set it up as a shared workbook
Tools>Share Workbook

In the edit tab, tick the allow changes by more than 1 user tick box and ok it
This should solve your problem Rgds

Thanks for the help

I have made it a shared workbook, but the problem of saving was occuring if only one person had the workbook open, and they had previously been able to save changes

Steve

Are you sure only one person had it open ??
What was the error message they got ?? Rgds
