I am currently using V8.5 of Crystal Reports. I have created 5 Reports which I have placed in a directory on the server for access by other users who also have Crystal Reports installed.
How do I give them permission to 'Refresh' the data which is coming from an Ingres Database via ODBC. At the moment, when they call the report, they are only getting 'view' privilege. Is there a simple solution. I am not an experienced programmer.
Many thanks.

Dear MAS17,

I am not sure I understand.

Does the database require a login?

Are they receiving the report with Saved Data and when they click the represh icon (lightning bolt) are they receiving an error message.

All reports have "view" priviledge - please explain what "view" means to you.

Hope I can help,

ro

Dear Rosmary
The database does require a login and that was the prompt I expected to see when my Users tried to refresh the data. Yes the data has been saved with the report thus they will always see a full report when they access it from a shortcut on the desktop.
When they try to refresh the data (lightning icon) they get a box asking for the source. I don't get this. I get a login prompt.
Hope this helps.
Thank you.

Are the reports using ODBC?
Is the ODBC connection set up on their PC?
If you run the network version from your desktop, does it work?
Did you move the RPT after it was saved or did you save it to the network?

Dear Mas17,

Ken's questions are dead on. It sounds like they don't have the datasource setup.
