All,
Setting up a multi site MM5.2 with MSS. Would it be best to install them as stand alones first then once they are all in and running change them to multi site? Or would it be best to stage them all at once and configure them with multi site and them install them one at a time. (Ea. site would have at least 1 MAS and MSS & a SIP gateway)
Thanks,

I guess im confused why you would put one at each site? The point of Modular Messaging Multisite is to have centralized voicemail for multiple sies... aka multisite.

I would install multisite right away. It think you would actually have to rebuild the MAS and MSS numbering if you wanted to enable it later. I think all the mailboxes would also need rebuilt. We use Exchange as the message store but i think it would be the same for MSS store. Its a little more work up front but much less work down the road.

the main point of multi site is not so much centralised voice mail, but more to allow multiple pbx types to work with a centralised message store, so in the case of hudson, each site may have a different pbx that wants to share the same MSS, thats why we need the SIP gateways. along with this, each different pbx will need a different mas too.

i think the best approach is to go multi site first. i would assume that cutover will involve a site at a time, therefore you could have a lessons learned approach for the dial plan on the first cutover, making the others easier as the bulk of complexity is already sorted.

nothing worse than getting a system running only to go and introduce a global change that could bring down an entire system if not configured correctly.
