Multi Numbered Pages PLS. HELP!! 1

I am wanting to produce a lot of gift certificates. There are 12 certificates per page. I have the background image of a sheet of 12 certificates with no numbers. I just need to add the numbers to each of the 12 certificates per page. For example, the 12 gift certificates on page one would be 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E...1L. The twelve certificates on page 2 would be 2A, 2B, 2C...2L. Before, I was just using illustrator and manually changing, then printing... but that is way too time consuming. I want to print out like 100 sheets. If you know how to do this with adobe pagemaker, or have a better idea of how to do this, PLS. PLS. PLS. let me know.

Just create a coma delimited excel file.

Merge the records into your original. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

I'm not sure what you mean. I've merged excel data into microsoft word before, but not sure what you're talking about. I know excel pretty well, but I'm not sure what you mean by coma delimited. My original pic, I have been working in illustrator.

If you have time, please describe what you mean in detail.

Hi,
Go to your master pages. Make a master page numbering by taking your text tool, on a mac you simultaneously press the apple, alt and P button (don't know the combination on the windows platform). You will see now a RM or LM on your master page. You can adjust the font you wan't to use, the point size and so on. After the RM or LM you can type an A. Select the text block, copy and paste it and you'll have a second Page numebering item, Change the A to a B and so on. Position the page numbers where you wan't them to be. and now if you insert pages you will see that on each page the first number will have the same number as the page you are on. You can always change the look of the numbers and the place they are by going back to your master page and adjusting the different page number holders.

grillhouse's answer makes more sense than my way... I know people that use flat files to merge lots of numbers (for lottery ticket type stuff) to consecutively number thousands of small tickets per sheet... but once again I was thinking past the obvious...
