Multi-boot question?

I wanted my PC to be able to boot DOS 6.22, Windows 98 SE, and Windows XP. I followed Microsofts instructons to load lesser OS's first to the most recent.

I have duel boot between XP and 98 but cant get to DOS.

Any ideas on how I can boot there?

FDISK show all partition correctly, DOS is on

C:\DOS
D:\Windows
J:\WINNT

You can't boot more than one 'dos based' system using XP's boot loader (dos 6.22 & win98SE both count as such). You'll need a third party boot manager to do that (eg,

- free for personal use).

you need to modify the boot.ini file to give you the boot options your after, or use power quests boot magic
your boot .ini should be similar to this:
[Boot Loader]
timeout=30
Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS98

[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
D:\="Microsoft Windows 98"
C:\="MSDOS 6.02"

smactek - interesting - last time I checked out KB about this, I returned articles saying it couldn't be done!

btw - I still prefer using boot manager, as you can make the operating systems independent. With XP boot loader, boot sector is on C: and if anything happens to it, you loose the ability to boot ALL operating systems.

I loaded boot-us and I looked good except when I booted my PC, I still couldn't get to my DOS 6.22 partition, even though it saw it.

So, I removed the DOS partition, and just went with the Windows 98 / XP duel boot. XP does a good job of doing this simple task.
