When you insert a picture(say a .tif or a .jpg) on a page in Word document, and if the picture is large or you have many of them, then going over the document becomes very annoying.

Apparently after every Page Down, MS word has to repaint the picture and you have to wait. Imagine doing this with more than 50 pictures in a 300 page document

I have however seen pictures well glued to pages in some Excel spreadsheets developed by professionals.

Which makes me think I am not pasting the pictures right.

Any comment welcome

I've found that creating a table, one row high by one column wide, and then inserting the JPG or TIF into the table gives good control over the placement of images. If the table is created with two rows you can place an image comment in the second row.

The table will expand to match the column width.

Hope this helps.

Cut the first picture, hit Edit-Paste Special as a Picture (just plain Picture). Do this to all the rest too.

I just read this on one of the tech sites I frequent: To speed up scrolling, hide your document's graphics by going to Tools, Options, View tab. To hide the pictures, select the Picture placeholders check box under Show. Word will display only an outline of the picture. This will apply to all your documents, so deselect this option when you want to view your graphics.

Thanx all guys

Dreamboat.... I have tried using Paste-Special-Picture as you suggested and only to let you know IT DOES WORK.

The photos are there stuck like text and I dont have to wait for MSWord to do slow repaint anymore.

Thanx man and thanx all.
