I have added the winsock control to a form, entered a remotehost and port but when I connect absolutely nothing happens. I mean nothing! Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this?

What are you trying to do? Winsock does do anything on its own.

I am trying to send an e-mail to a specific location. The users of this application have differnet e-mail clients and providers so I wanted a method of sending an e-amil to a specfic address with no intervention from the user. The control is not doing anything no matter what address I use but I can get to these addresses manually. Instructions I have found indicate I am doing everything correctly but the response is the same, absolutely nothing. As if the connect method is totally useless.

Try:

thisform.winsockcontrol.OBJECT.connect

And then check the connect event of the control for an incoming response.

Be sure and pay attention to the value in thisform.winsockcontrol.OBJECT.state
It may offer some clues.

Thanks so much for the answers. It was the word ".object". I've used the inet control many times but never had to use .object.
