I was able to get detailed mta trace. However after entering command clear mst, i am getting empty mta window. I enabled trace analyzer, than mst, set Log mst to yes, but mta window is still empty. Only _____________________________________________________________________________

is visible.
What i am doing wrong?

Calls are coming in, so i should see something on mta.

via CM Terminal Emulation:
change mst - set high level configuration
clear mst - clear the trace
enable mst - enable the trace
disable mst - stop the trace
change mst default - set config back to default

status mst - view status
list mst - view raw data, if any

via CM web interface
Diagnostics / System Logs / Communication Manager's Message Trace Analyzer (MTA)

This provides a decent analysis of the MST info.

you can also do list trace vdn-sta /m ..... the /m will turn on mst tracing then when you hit f3 on the trace it will stop

APSS (SME)
ACSS (SME)
ACIS (UC)

To elaborate on ZeroZeroOne's reply:

Use "mst" in CM
Code:
NOTE: turn on Log Mst? y
linux log files /var/log/ecs on hard drive
Trace can be stopped, or not, by count, trigger, command, or Run Time Limit
Trace Analyzer turns off automatically. If you are trying to use "mta" to
analyze, you need to make sure the Trace Analyzer is "y" when you display mst

change mst default
Log Mst? y
Trace Analyzer? y
CALL TRACE? y
UID 8C95

change mst default - set config back to default (not tracing anything)
change mst - set configuration with parameters for your trace
clear mst - clear the trace buffer in memory
enable mst - enable the trace (start collecting data - memory and logs)
disable mst - stop the trace (stop collecting data - memory and logs)
status mst - view status of collection
list mst - view raw data buffer in memory beginning with first message

Get data and analyze from linux log files /var/log/ecs on hard drive
NOTE: this is historical data from log files when the data was collected. This
is not the same as the memory buffer in CM before "clear mst"

use web browser -> server maintenance -> system logs -> mta decode

NOTE: pick your window of time based on when the data was collected to the logs
#Get UID for extension
Code:
display internal-data ext-map 1000

In 6.2/6.3, I've found the internal trace analyzer often gives "nothing" when "list mst" does. You can't specify "today". I find that you have to specify a very precise time range. Something about some data filling up somewhere that the web app decoder doesn't want to deal with.

Sometimes it is working with no problems. Sometimes even exact time does not help. This is some bug in CM.

We have problems with disconnecting calls. Call are coming in DS1, and then they are routed to IP phones, which are in other city. I have enabled mst with parameters and took trace with msg-debug button.

How can I tell from this log, where is the problem of disconecting calls? Seems there is no disconnect signal coming.

Before going any further, you are on SP3 (21172) which is a couple of years old and has hundreds of issues. I suggest you update your CM to SP11.1 or higher. NOTE: Avaya recently released an entirely new base load (124->141) so be aware there are two patch paths. 11.1 and 111.1 would be the two different releases.

Not sure but it looks like you may be having some diverting issue.
