How do I run an MST trace? Is there a document that states how to set one up and analyze the data? I have spoken to Tier 3 avaya a hundred times and it seems they solve most problems with these traces. I know in the PBX I can set one up but would not know how to access the data I am tracing. Please let me know.

I don't think it's possible for customers or engineers to do it, I'm pretty sure only Tier 3 & 4 can retrieve the MST data

you can run this logged in at the switch administration terminal (SAT) via the init login, enter go
tcm followed by the rdd:dp_mgr Bsr_applloc command to see the total
attempts, internal error, network error, successful redirection, and disconnect peg
counts that are associated with BSR call interflows where NCR was invoked.

What version are you running and is it a Media Server? You can view MST's from the Web Interface on CM2 and above.

AN 8700 and I am above 2.0 I know where you are talking about, but if I do a ch MST in the switch and set up a trace where do I getr the information from.

The information is retrieved via the Web browser from the server logs.
What are you trying to trace for? You have to be very careful not to trace too much data to the server logs so 'CCMS' and 'Call Trace' are out. However, tracing for CDR, ISDN etc is really useful.

MST's to the servers are ok for basic, small MST's.

Ok, do 'ch mst' enable 'Trace Analyzer' and set the MST options you want. Then 'enable mst' make the test call and 'disable mst'
Goto the web bowser, maintenance, system logs, check the MTA option, choose the 'today' radio button, and the number of lines you want displayed. Hey presto....your decoded MST appears!!!
Now you wanna know what it means....now there's a whole new story! :)

I cannot find trace analyzer. so when I do the rest whe =n I log into the web interface I have no information on the MST

Sorry I found Trace analyzer but I still have no results

My apologies....I forgot to say enable 'Log Mst' too on page 1 above 'Trace Analyzer'. Now you should get something....

Now the only question is what do I use to interperet that information, because I can't read that LOL

Yes I used my IP station as a filter and testing it specifically

Do a search on this site for MST. There are about 4 posts. I was looking for the same thing Monday. One of them has a web site link that has a small download to analyze the data. I tried it and it's a little slow but, it got the job done. I actually fixed my problem using it.

I appriciate all of the help thus far, but I have 2 more questions.

1)When I do the MST trace and log into the web interface pool the data. How do I extract it to a text or log file?

2) Everytime I use the analyzer it locks up and states not responding. Any one have any thoughts?
