I am trying to access some old e-mail saves from Outlook Express (I now use Office's Outlook). I get a message saying that the MSOE.DLL won't load. When I looked on the MS site I only found Regedit info for problems with Windows 98. Your assistance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Laura

Believer,
There a couple of items needed in order to help.
1. Did you just load your system with win2k pro?
2. What version of Outlook are you using?
3. Have you installed all the Service Packs, there are 3?
4. Do you have IE 6.0
There are several applications that use this .dll. IE 6.0 is one. If you can answer these questions, I will be able to help you, correct the .dll problem.

Sure hope you can help. I am not expierincing any other problems with any programs. I don't really understand how to use REGEDIT so you might have to walk me through it if we have to solve it that way.

I appreciate your time. Just trying to make ends meet with this thing.
Thanks,
Laura

Believer,
Need you to do a find for this .dll,
I am going to send you a new .dll
You will need to copy it over the old .dll
However, the only way to do this is, but mapping into the system that needs to be logged off. Can you do this?
It sounds as thought the .dll is corrupt. Which is so easy to happen. Please let me know if you can do this.
I will need to know where to e-mail it to. I cannot not put is on this site. It will not work.

<<<However, the only way to do this is, but mapping into the system that needs to be logged off. Can you do this?>>>
You lost me on that one.

E-mail me at believer@fidnet.com

I am showing two in my search:
C:\Program Files\Outlook Express
C:\WINNNT\ServicePackFiles\i386

Thanks for your help.

Laura,
The old outlook, used an .ost file for the configured e-mail, the new Outlook uses a .pst file. What we need to do is to convert it. I will get back to you on it, I need to check something out. I can't remember which procedure to do this with. Back with you this afternoon or tonight.

I can use my Outlook, it's the Outlook Express that I can't use. It won't open.
Thanks,
Laura

Laura, Here is your problem, and the solution.
Hope it helps.
Kelly :)
If Internet Explorer 5.01 SP1 was installed before Internet Explorer 5.5 was installed, you may receive the following error message when you attempt to start Outlook Express:
Outlook Express
Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be loaded.

CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Internet Explorer 5.01 SP2 incorrectly attempts to install some components, even if a later version of Internet Explorer is already installed.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue and update Outlook Express to the version that is included with Internet Explorer 5.01 SP2, uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 or 5.5 SP1, reinstall Internet Explorer 5.01 SP2, and then reinstall Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1. For additional information about how to uninstall Internet Explorer 5.5 or 5.5 SP1, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Thanks.
I acctually hunted on MS tech base before, but only found fixes for WIN 98 and not for 2000.
Thank you very much, I will look at those.
