when i instigate a voice conversation on msn the connection keeps breaking or there are long delays.
Is there anyone with any ideas as to how I may be able to solve this problem?
Thanks.

Faster Internet speeds generally is the cause of this.

I agree. What kind of connection are you using? Sounds like your buffer is running down faster than your connection can keep it full.

I am using internet on LAN, sharing with winproxy server, unable to do voice chat on MSN and other utilities, can anybody here help me to configure my LAN for voice communication.

maybe your modem is assymetric that is it is set for
56k download this means it is uploading at only 22k or less if the other end who you are talking to is the same the two way speech is then limited to max28k, to fix this Both modems startup has to be set for symettrical operation that is both connect tx and rx @30 k
the buffer balance will then maintain ok both ways
do not forget there is a sync word always moving,,,,
inspect your modem book for the setting its &s53 or something like that it varies between brands/models

To CableUSER there is not enough detail on your setup.
are you using a cable modem in a SOHO with everybodys PC
connecting through a PROXY server to use only one cable IP address? if so i guess you have to ENABLE channel 5050?
or something like that, in the proxy server to use Netmeeting and other EXTERNAL video audio systems,
most large Companys Block this traffic by default, 1. for fear of slowing other more important traffic,2. as there is a file transfer, viruses can get in via this uncontrolled route,!!!

my voice conversations via msn messenger service generally fail. (56k modem connection) sometimes the link works altho' there is sometimes a delay and an echo. other times there is just an electronic snapping. nothing has changed between both endusers (ie. no software or hardware modifications) does anyone have any ideas why this works sometimes but fails sporatically?

I am connected to a winproxy server , unable to use voice communication. It just failed all the time in msn , Net2phone and in yahoo. can anyone help me?
Thanks

ahem the (remaxdave) user who is having problems with msn voice with electronic "snapping" is probably the assymetric modem connx (not enough uplink bandwidth) see my post...
the other user (niqboy) who has the problem it suggests its the same problem but with THAT particular user..
TWIG & Ronenlo i guess you could be having a problem with the fact that your return IP address may be shown as 192.186.0.1
that is, the address of the sharing computer, router, or proxy server, that is where it stops, a suggestion is to establish chat, then get the other end, who may not be on a sharing, environment, to start up a netmeeting call, do not use the voice in MSN, then when netmeeting starts, go to, FILE, then tick automatically accept incoming call,!!! netmeeting V3.1,,, this works for me ok.

thankx paul. voice in MSN is working right now. But the bigger problem is Net2phone is not working on winproxy.even the ports mapped in the winproxy :( 6801 port. as net2phone support told me. dont know every time when start test for net2phone it failed all the time. is there any solution for this, because winproxy people say they support net2phone man!!!
thanks.

For you guys using MSN Voice using internet connection, here is a fix for the current problem,
Currently, certain extended features of MSN Messenger, such as voice conversations and file transfer, might not work behind Internet Connection Sharing applications and hardware (often called NATs). Basic functionality such as signing in, instant messaging, and checking e-mail should not be affected at all.
File transfer and audio or video conversations will fail if both you and the person you are communicating with are on computers that have Windows XP ICS NATs. MSN Messenger fails to detect this type of NAT as a Universal Plug-n-Play (UPnP) NAT.

On the XP ICS machine connected directly to the Internet please do the following:
Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel
Double-click Network Connections
Right-click on the network connection that is shared and select Properties
Click on the Advanced tab
Check the box that says Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection
Click OK to save the settings
