Hello.

I have a problem with distrubuting an MSI object. I'm using zenworks 6.5, and using nal-window to distrubute the applications. I already installed the application which is an Oracle client. The problem I got now is that I want to update the client. I got the new msi file but the client won't get updated, eventho I do a "verify" on the object. I tried with changing Version number and GUID without results. I know it's not updated cause it's a registry value that should be updated so I can easily check it with regedit.

I know I can just add the Registry value on the Distrubutions Options-->Registry, but thats not how I wanna do it.

How does updating applications generally work? Do I need to get the new msi object to uninstall the old before I add the new object or how does it work?

Thanks.

Oki, its me again.

I located the problem. I know it's because it uses the source located in c:\windows\installer. Thats why it works when I uninstall and then install the application again. Now my question simply is: How can I force the application to be installed from the source and not from the local source.

I have the Use the re-cache source to install package under MSI-->Verify unchecked.

One way to do it is to add path to file under Run Options -->Application and write:
c:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe and then under parameters write /fvamus (source file). But it's not a good solution since it will force an repair everytime you click on the nal-object.
