Msg appears even with no new messages 1

We have Norstar 7310 phones. One phone has the msg on screen even when there are no new messages. When I go to the voicemail it rings to another extension in the office. The last messages received at this phone were sent from another extension. I went in and deleted even the saved messages and the msg still pops up.
I would greatly appreciate anyone's help to resolve this issue.

Is there a way to disable the "feature" that causes the messages to appear?

Just cross it off of the feature card under the handset and no one will know how in the future or
