MSCS not failing over when Public lan lost

I have currently set up two servers as a clustered pair.

The Public LAN interface is a team'd pair of 100Mb cards. The dedicated link is a 3Com gigabyte fibre card.

All appears to work except when I disconnect the Public LAN on the node which owns the cluster.

I would expect the cluster to failover to the node which is visible on the Public network.

To make matters worse the Cluster Administration utility on both nodes shows all Public interfaces as UP even though one is definately air gapped.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Also where do I find a definative list of hotfixes/patches for MCSC

MSCS does not detect network failures, and therefore will not "failover" to the other node in the event of a network failure. Too bad, so sad.

Hi,
Out of curiosity, why does it matter that it doesn't fail over if the net connection is lost to the cluster owner? after all, I assume you're accessing the cluster through the shared IP address which would still be up and I would have thought that a server monitoring service would alert you if the lan connection was lost to the primary cluster node?
