MSCS Cluster Failover

Hve a simple MSCS cluster on 2 W2K boxes and when I initiate a failover, the 2nd node does not take ownership. It fails back to the 1st node. Why???

can the cluster machines ping eact other , also make sure that the subne are equal on both machines.

The nodes can ping each other on the public and private networks. The nodes on the private are setup as 10.1.1.1 and .2 with a subnet of 255.0.0.0.

The subnet on the public is 255.255.255.0

Bring all Resources offline, move them (the resourcegroup) to the other node and start step by step all resources online. So you can see, which resource fail.

Yes sdaid, indeed. Initiating a failure is governed by the rules set to the resource and the group.
See: resource/properties/advanced.
Initiating a failure will be counted. When the threshold is reached the resource will go offline, and if the group is set to be affected by that resource, then the group will start failover procedure.
Failover procedure also has a threshold. When the threshold is reached, the group will be set to offline, no failover.

If you get stuck call Microsoft cluster support, it may cost a little money to have your problem resolved but you won't regret doing it, and you will learn a lot!
